The BuySmart Network (formerly the Sustainability Purchasing Network) and Green Fleets BC/E3 Fleet Program are taking an in-depth look at case studies of organizations that have implemented initiatives and programs towards greening their fleets. A number of speakers will be on-hand to tell their stories of fleet transformation, including special guest, Melody Bennett, Climate Change Program Manager for King County, WA.

Here's what you'll get out of the workshop:

• Learn about King County's comprehensive approach to green fleet management—from policy and implementation to measuring and reporting.
  
• Find out the City of Vancouver's solution to meet their green fleet goals, change staff behaviour towards commuting to work, and provide community leadership by encouraging alternative transportation options from Doug Smith, Manager of Equipment Services.
• Get an overview of the inner workings of the Hybrid Truck Buyer's Group from Terry Robert, Manager, Climate Change and Air Quality for the Fraser Basin Council, and learn about the challenges and successes of group purchasing of new technologies.
• See how the collaboration between Purchasing and Fleet Management at the City of Abbotsford resulted in a Fleet Standardization agreement, which simplifies the vehicle procurement process and creates value for the City.
• Learn about "grey fleets" and how addressing this issue will reduce ghg emissions, employee expense claims, and change behaviours.
  
• Understand "best practice" green fleet programs, and the steps to creating a successful green fleet initiative.
