Take advantage of Network Training Workshops, Seminars, Webinars, and Learning Circles to acquire valuable information and techniques to start or deepen your organization's practices in sustainability purchasing. Qualified facilitators will lead you through interactive discussions, case studies, and, in the half-day workshops, strategic problem-solving exercises on a variety of sustainability purchasing topics. In this space you'll also find special events in which the Network is involved. WorkshopsWorkshops are typically a half-day morning event that includes continental breakfast and time for connecting with your peers. Although they are structured to provide content and speakers, the focus is toward sharing the purchasing practices, successes, and challenges of the participants in the room. New! Case Studies in Green Fleet ManagementSeptember 17, 2009 8:00 am - 12:00 pm UBC Robson Square, Vancouver, BC The BuySmart Network and Green Fleets BC/E3 Fleet Program have again collaborated on a new workshop that begins where our last workshop left off: by taking an in-depth look at case studies of organizations that have implemented initiatives and programs towards greening their fleets. A number of guest speakers will be on-hand to tell their stories of fleet transformation, including Melody Bennett, Climate Change Program Manager, King County, WA, who will present King County’s comprehensive approach to green fleet management; Terry Robert, Manager, Climate Change and Air Quality for the Fraser Basin Council, who will offer his take on the Hybrid Truck Buyer’s Group process, and Doug Smith, Manager, Equipment Services, City of Vancouver. Learning CirclesLearning circles create an opportunity for participants to engage in a small group dialogue with their peers. They run for 1-1/2 hours in the morning and are offered at a minimal cost. Participants arrive prepared to discuss their organization's purchasing practices and challenges on specific topics.
